新闻评论特稿修辞叙事声音比较研究

A Comparative Study of Narrative Voice in Newspaper Op-Ed Articles of the Opinion Column

基于修辞叙事理论并以转述言语为切入点,比较了中国作者和英语本族语作者发表于《中国日报》的新闻评论特稿的修辞叙事声音,以此探究二语写作者在此类体裁写作中的声音特点。研究发现,两组作者均具有引入外界声音的意识,都试图通过转述言语来加强自己的修辞叙事;中国作者构建文本的修辞叙事多声性意识不够强烈,语篇的对话性、互动性、互文性、评价性和论辩性程度不够高,修辞叙事声音的多元性构建特征不够明显;产生共性的主要原因在于体裁共同的语用修辞特征,存在差异的重要原因在于中西不同的文化和修辞传统。

Based on the narrative paradigm of rhetorical criticism, this paper makes a comparative analysis of the characteristics of narrative voice in Op-Ed articles of the opinion column in China Daily by native Chinese English writers and native English writers. It focuses upon reported speech to discover the features of narrative voice by analysing the mode of reporting and the source of the reported speech. The results show that both groups of writers make efforts to introduce other voices into the texts in order to strengthen their rhetoric in narration. The Chinese English writers are weaker in the heterogeneity of voices, and the texts thus produced are less dialogic, interactional, intertextual, evaluative and argumentative. The construction of multi narrative voices is not as important as it is in the native English writers’ texts. The reason for the common features between the two groups might be the style requirements of this genre, and the differences might be due to the different cultural and rhetorical traditions.
