An empirical study on education equity in China,1978-2004

摘要 By using the education Gini coefficient(EGC),as the indicator of education equity,this paper will calculate the degree of education equity in China during 1978–2004.Results show that although education equity as a whole has improved significantly since 1978,it is rather at a low level compared with the international average.Due to the great inequality among regions and the rural-urban disparity in education,the positive influence of education on social development and economic growth has been limited. 以教育基尼系数作为教育公平程度的量化指标,对中国1978–2004年间的教育公平程度进行测算。结果表明,我国总体教育公平程度较1978年已有显著提高,但与国际水平相比仍然较低。由于区域教育的不平等与城乡教育的不平等,教育对经济增长与社会发展的促进作用是有限的。
