《快嘴李翠莲记》是宋朝人所作的小说话本。试从话本中的多处饮食描写观照李翠莲因人而异的“快嘴”,可知李翠莲对父母的“快嘴”以劝慰、辩解为主,对公婆和丈夫的“快嘴”是直接冒犯和讽刺,对媒婆和阴阳先生等婚嫁随行人员的“快嘴”则是极尽鄙夷和侮辱。种种差异,实归因于北宋时期有关阶级、饮食、教育、婚嫁的政治制度及社会观念。

“The Story of Fast Mouth Li Cuilian” is a Chinese story-teller’s script written in the Song Dynasty.An exploration of the complex “Fast Mouth” of Li Cuilian from the diet description in this script reveals that Li Cuilian’s “Fast Mouth” is mainly to comfort and defend her parents,while her“ Fast Mouth” is offensive and ironic to her parents-in-law and her husband,and extremely contemptuous of and insulting to the wedding entourage represented by the matchmaker and the fortune teller.All these can be attributed to the political system and people’s thinking about social classes,diet,education,and marriage custom in the Northern Song dynasty.
