《交友论》是“西儒”利玛窦在华正式出版的第一部中文著译作品,将西方关于友谊的格言编译成册,首次向中国人传播西方的友谊观。在该书的编译传播过程中,利玛窦一方面从中国古代儒学经典中寻求与西方友谊观的契合之处,另一方面顺应明末儒学发展的新趋势,提高友伦在传统伦理中的地位。该书在明末中国士人阶层中产生了共鸣,促进了中西文化的交流。《交友论》翻译传播中采用的文化适应策略,对当代中西文明沟通与交流具有重要借鉴意义。

On Friendship was the first formally published book in Chinese by“the Western Scholar”Matteo Ricci in China.With the editing translation of a hundred Western maxims into Chinese,the book was the first in China on Western view of friendship.In the process of translation and dissemination,Matteo Ricci borrowed similar expressions to the Western view of friendship from classical Confucian works,and adapted to the new development of the view of friendship in Confucianism in the late Ming Dynasty period.The book attracted great interest and resonance from Chinese scholars after publishing,which promoted the cultural exchange between China and the West.The cultural adaptation strategies applied in the translation and dissemination of On Friendship are of great sig-nificance for the present civilization communication between China and the West.
