丁山在抗战后方的“跳槽”风波——从顾颉刚致丁山的一封佚信说起

Ding Shan’s Job-hopping in Rear Area of the Chinese War against Japanese Aggression: From a Lost Letter from Ku Chieh-kang to Ding Shan

1939年初到1941年秋,丁山第一次任职三台国立东北大学,先是欲与顾颉刚任主任的齐鲁大学国学研究所密切合作,后亦欲追随顾颉刚入重庆联合大学。由于1941年下半年顾颉刚介绍丁山入中央大学的时机并不成熟,丁山辞职东北大学后便于当年11月任城固国立西北大学史学系主任,对西北大学和西北学术事业充满信心和使命感,并继续坚邀顾颉刚挥师西北,筹划建设西北大学史学系和史学研究所。最终由于学术研究与生存条件的艰难,丁山1942年夏不得不离开西北大学,在顾颉刚的引荐下于1942年秋任职中央大学。虽然顾颉刚与丁山曾对顾孟余掌校下的中央大学报以极高的期待,然终究“乘兴而至,败兴而归”。

Ding Shan wanted to cooperate closely with the Sinological Research Institute of Cheeloo University directed by Ku Chieh-kang firstly, then he also wanted to follow Ku Chieh-kang to work at the National Central University, when he served at the National Northeastern University at Santai from early 1939 to 1941 for the first time. However, the opportunity of introducing Ding Shan to the National Central University is insufficiency. After Ding Shan resigned from the National Northeastern University, he served as the director of the Department of History of the National Northwest University at Chenggu in November 1941. At the same time, he continued to invite Ku Chieh-kang to the National Northwestern University and endeavored to build the Department of History and the Institute of this university. During this time, Ding Shan had fully confidence and mission in the National Northwest University and Northwestern academic careers. Sadly, Ding Shan had to leave this school due to the difficult academic and living conditions in the summer of 1942. With the recommendation Ku Chieh-kang, Ding Shan went to work at the National Central University in the autumn of 1942. Although confident in their expectation of the National Central University which presided by Gu Mengyu, Ku Chieh-kang and Ding Shan “set out cheerfully and came back disappointed”.
