To satisfy the needs of the clients of comprehensive medical insurance network information system in which local area network and wide area network are combined in a city,using object-oriented spiral repeated merement project developmental method,in the aspects of the design of host system,the design of network system,the choice of datebase system,the choice of type of IC card,UPS power system and the design of data backup equipment and so on ,we give detailed illustration and analysis of the design and practice of medical insurance network information system project of the city.This medical insurance network system is feasible, secure, expandable, open and maintainable.Therefore, it is an advanced and practical system which can satisfy clients’ need.
