As early as the 17th century,English critics were aware of the limitations of classicism poetics.Under the background of political and religious conflicts in Britain and France,after systematic criticism made by Dryden and Dr.Johnson and denunciations made by many other British critics,the classicism poetics in England was completely destroyed long before the rise of Romanticism.
