As an important early work of Le Clézio,L'extase matérielle is an attempt by the writer to interpret the world through his words.It has nurtured many stylistic elements and themes of his future writing.The article argues that L extase matérielle presents a brief encounter between the eternal world and man with a particular diamond-shaped structure,showing the author's dialectical thoughts on matter and consciousness,language and reality.Le Clézio,wary of the self-closure of consciousness,tries to open it up by a phenomenological reduction of matter and to touch the reality here present with the language.This thus favored a language between the concrete and the abstract in the book and reflects the author's poetic writing rooted in daily life.
