理工类高校英语专业专门用途英语人才培养构想--以沈阳理工大学为例

An ESP Proposal for English BA Programs in Universities of Science and Technology:A Case Study of Shenyang Ligong University

在当今国际化的高科技时代,中国的科学技术亟须在国际上增强话语权。理工类高校的英语专业应当主动服务于国家战略,尽快调整专业结构;按照《国标》的要求,并结合学校的办学特色,着力培养在理工科领域从事英语语言服务的应用型人才。本文首先介绍了专门用途英语的理论体系、研究对象和研究方法;然后以沈阳理工大学2021版英语专业培养方案为例,从人才培养目标、专业定位与内涵、课程体系、就业期望和教师转型等方面探讨了开展专门用途英语人才培养的构想;最后将理工类高校英语专业应用型人才培养的着力点定位于“英语+理工科一般知识+语言学和ESP知识”模式。

In this era of global high-tech,it has become imperative to have Chinese voice heard on the international forum of science&technology,a mission that,by adapting the programme structure,English BA programs must actively serve the nation’s development strategies.Under the direction of The National Standards and in combination to the features particular for individual universities,English BA programs in the universities of science&technology should strive to cultivate practical personnel who will practise English language service in the field of science&technology.This article first introduces the theoretical basis,research subjects,and research methods of English for Specific Purposes(ESP).Next,by taking the 2021 version of the English BA Program Syllabus in Shenyang Ligong University for a case study,it addresses the conception and implementation of ESP Programme in universities of science&technology from diverse perspectives such as its objectives,orientation,connotation,course modules,employment prospect,and teachers’transformation.Finally,the article draws a conclusion of“English+general science&technology+linguistics&ESP”knowledge training pattern to shed light on featured English BA programs in universities of science&technology.
