转喻视域下的商务英语缩略语分析与翻译研究

A Study on Translation of Business English Abbreviations from the Perspective of Metonymy

本文主要探讨转喻认知在商务英语缩略语特征及其翻译研究中的独特作用,通过转喻认知行为方式对缩略语的构成、构词形式、构词语义加以研究,提出转喻是商务英语缩略语认知的有效途径之一。缩略语的形成是一种形式与另一种形式的转喻替代关系,缩略语的认知在语境的影响下为转喻的恰当运用提供途径,转喻的理据对学习和理解商务英语缩略语的认知具有一定意义。同时,转喻的认知为理解缩略语提供指代功能,有助于准确理解缩略语形式与语义。所以转喻其本身也可以被看作是一种翻译策略或方法,对研究商务英语缩略语的汉译提供了另一有效探索方法。

This paper mainly discusses the use of metonymy in business English abbreviations and the unique role in translation.We study the formation,word meaning of abbreviations in business English.This research proposes that metonymy is one of cognitive approaches to business English abbreviations,which provides a new way to understanding abbreviations in context.Motivation in metonymy is important to cognition and acquisition for business English abbreviations.It is a value to translate the business English abbreviations by means of metonymy.
