Professor Liu Bao-cai’s Research on the Ideology and Culture During the Pre-Qin Period

刘宝才教授先秦思想文化研究的理论基础是马克思主义,学术渊源主要是“侯外庐学派”,也吸收了王国维、徐中舒等学术研究范式和方法。他的先秦思想文化研究突出在炎黄文化研究方面;他对儒家经典《周易》《论语》《大学》《中庸》都做过专门研究,对儒学更新发展有考辨;对先秦诸子从宏观和微观视角研究和阐发,认为诸子各派学说都有价值,对道、法、名、阴阳家都有专论。先秦思想史研究是刘宝才教授在传承发展侯外庐学派、追随张岂之先生不断深化中国思想史研究的主要工作,先后参与《中国思想史》《中国思想学术史》等先秦卷的撰写和主编,对先秦思想史有系统梳理,形成了与时俱进、正本清源的学术观点。

Marxism was the theoretical basis of Professor Liu Bao-cai’s ideological and cultural research during the Pre-Qin Period.the school of Hou Wai-lu was the academic origin of his study,Professor Liu Bao-cai also absorbed some scholars’academic research paradigms and methods such as Wang Guo-wei and Xu Zhong-shu.Professor Liu Bao-cai’s study of ideology and culture during the Pre-Qin period focuses on the study of the Yan-Huang culture.He made special research on the Confucian classics such as The Book of Changes,The Analects of Confucius,The Great Learning and The Doctrine of the Mean and made textual research on the renewal and development of Confucianism.Professor Liu Bao-cai also studied and elucidated the scholars’ideas during the Pre-Qin Period both macroscopically and microscopically.He believed that the theories of various schools of scholars during the Pre-Qin Period were valuable and made his monographs about Taoism,Legalism,the School of Logicians and the School of Yin-Yang.The study of ideological history during the Pre-Qin Period was the main focus of Professor Liu Bao-cai by inheriting and developing the school of Hou Wai-lu and deepening the study of Chinese ideological history by following Mr.Zhang Qi-zhi.Professor Liu Bao-cai had participated in writing and editing of Pre-Qin volumes of The History of Chinese Thought and The Academic History of Chinese Thought,having systematically combed the history of Pre-Qin thought and formed his academic views of keeping pace with the times and clarifying the source.
