A Freehand Painting outside of Erudition Still Showing True Ability——On Wang Shunan’s Finger Painting“Reading in the Lodge”

被誉为近代“方志编纂之父”的史坛巨擘王树楠,以指代笔仿效元代黄公望笔意为晚清翰林张潜若而作《潜庐读书图》,其指法相机而出,择宜而用,用墨湿枯分明,凭独具特色的线条及墨色,使指下所表现出来的物象达到似生非生、似拙非拙、似是而非的效果,且形不到而神到,墨不到而韵到,淋漓酣畅、形象突兀、构图险峻。更引来七位晚清翰林历时八载的题诗唱和,呈现出民国时期艺林、史林、诗坛与文坛的一段绝妙佳话。

Wang Shunan,a great historian known as the“father of the compilation of local chronicles”in modern times,imitated the brushwork of Huang Gongwang of the Yuan Dynasty to draw with fingers instead of brush and presented his finger painting to Zhang Qianruo,a late Qing Dynasty scholar.His fingering technique features of bursting out in accordance with the exact situation and of distinct wet and dry ink.With the unique lines and ink colors,the objects displayed under his fingers achieve the effect of seemingly living rather than living,seemingly clumsy rather than clumsy,and seemingly paradoxical.Meanwhile,they convey the spirit much more than the appearance,and the lingering charm much more than ink,outlining the abrupt image and presenting precipitous composition.It even attracted seven Han Lin(member of the Imperial Academy)in late Qing dynasty to write poems and chang he for eight years,leaving a wonderful story in the fields of art,history,poetry and literary world in the Republic of China era.
