《喜福会》中的冲突话语类型及冲突发展走向

Study on the types of conflict talk and the direction of conflict development in The Joy Luck Club

基于小说《喜福会》中的母女、姨甥及夫妻在不同交际情景中使用的冲突话语研究,发现其主要表现为指令类、阐述类及表达类三种冲突话语类型。在这些言语冲突中,母女之间的冲突主要体现在望女成凤的苛求上,姨甥间则因不以为意的伤害引发冲突,而夫妻之间的冲突以各执己见的责难为主要呈现形式。依据Spencer-Oatey的和谐管理模式,分析《喜福会》中人物角色在言语冲突时的语言选择,发现他们选择的和解让步式话步、屈服顺从式话步和不分胜负式话步维护了人际关系,形成了和谐取向;非顺从式话步及争论式话步则破坏了人际关系,形成了不和谐取向。

Based on the research into the conflict discourse used by different characters in the different situations in The Joy Luck Club,it is found the conflict discourse is classified into directive discourse,discriptive discourse and expressive discourse.The discourse conflict between mother and daughter is manifested in mother′s high expectation for her daughter,the conflict between aunt and nephew caused by unexpected harm and the conflict between husband and wife by their insistance on their own opinions.The linguistic choices made by the characters during the conflict talk are analyzed by Spencer-Oatey′s rapport management model,concluding that their choices of conciliatory concession move,submissive move and non-competitive move preserve interpersonal relationships and create a harmonious orientation;their choices of non-submissive move and argumentative move undermine interpersonal relationships and lead to a disharmonious orientation.
