潦伯(司徒)疑铜器与潦之族属及地望

Liaobo(Situ)Yi’s Bronze Ware and the Clan and Geographical Position of Liao

沬伯(司徒)及有关铜器铭文中旧释“沬”之字实应系“潦”,所谓“沬伯(司徒)”应系“潦(寮)伯(司徒)”,应据改。作为国族名,“寮”“潦”应系一字之异构,皆从“尞”得声。沬伯(司徒)疑诸器的“疑”系其名,“沬”系其国族(族氏)名兼地名,“沬伯”系沬国族的首领(系其徽记符号),“伯”或兼作排行。疑的身份系沬伯,兼任沬司徒职,成王时随卫康叔一起就封至卫。传世潦伯甗的“潦伯”与沬伯诸器的“沬伯”或即一人。沬系姒姓,其地望在沬即古“妹”地,今河南淇县一带,与淇卫邻近。沬族系殷遗民,或即《左传》定公四年“分康叔以……殷民七族”的“殷民七族”之属。

The word“mei”in the old interpretation of Meibo(Situ)and related bronze inscriptions should actually be“liao”,and the so-called“Meibo(Situ)”should be“Liao(潦)[Liao(寮)]bo(Situ)”,which should be changed accordingly.As a national name,“Liao(寮)”and“Liao(潦)”should be written in different ways of one word,both of which are pronounced“liao(尞)”.“Yi”in the bronze inscriptions of Meibo(Situ)is his name,“Mei”is his national(clan)name and also serves as a place name,“Meibo”was the leader of the Mei nation,and“Bo”or also serves as ranking.Yi was Meibo,who also served as Situ of Mei.During the reign of King Cheng of Zhou,he was granted the title and went to the State of Wei with Weikangshu.The“Liaobo”of the Liaobo yan handed down and the“Meibo”of the Meibo vessels might be one person.Mei is the Si surname.It is located in Mei(沬),which is the ancient“Mei(妹)”.It is near Qiwei in Qixian County,Henan Province today nowadays.The Mei family is the adherent of the Yin,or a member of the“seven Yin people families”who“divided Kangshu with...seven Yin people families”(the fourth year of Dinggong,Zuo Zhuan).
