“Mi-se”(Secret Color) refers to “Mi-se-ci”(the porcelain with secret color which is exclusive for the royal) made by Yue-yao(Yue Kiln) ranging from Tang Dynasty, the Five Dynasties to the early Northern Song Dynasty.Since the excavation of the terrestrial palace in Famen Temple in Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province in 1987, it seems the research in “Mi-se Porcelain” in the past 1,000 years has been uplifted as an “important subject” under the “dual evidences” of literature and archaeology. However, it seems there are still many controversies in the academic circles on what is “Mi-se porcelain”.The reason is probably related to the lack of meticulous sorting, careful identification and in-depth excavation of relevant historical documents for a long time.Based on a series of archaeological findings such as Famen Temple, through the study of the representative literatures of “Mi-se porcelain” scattered in poetry, official history, literati notes, ceramic monographs and local historical records from Tang to Qing Dynasties, four basic literatures of academic value are selected out. They are LU Yu’s Cha-jing(“The Classic of Tea”), LU Guimeng’s poem Mi-se-yue-qi(“Yue Porcelain with Secret Color”), XU Yin’s poem Gong-yu-mi-se-cha-zhan(“The Civilian Use of Tea Ware with Secret Color”), and ZHAO Lingzhi’s essay collection Hou-zheng-lu.
