Drama and plague have many similarities in their forms and functions. Artaud’s purpose to compare drama with plague is to offer a vivid analysis of his theory “Theatre of Cruelty”. From Artaud’s statements, we can find the relationship between the theory of “Theatre of Cruelty” and the development of drama in the East and the West. However, Artaud’s statements are sometimes inaccurate.
