Countries around the world are constantly exploring the development model of research universities.Russia has built a number of distinctive new research universities, which have achieved remarkable results in serving the country’s innovation and development strategy. As a typical representative of them, Skoltech has achieved rapid and high-quality development through the construction and implementation of the “three-dimensional pillars” of education, research and innovation. The strategic vision of Russia’s new research university is to promote scientific and technological innovation. The discipline construction sector and the achievement transformation sector are its supporting conditions. The “three-dimensional pillar” is the core work and mechanism connecting the discipline construction sector and the achievement transformation sector. “Three-dimensional pillar” takes coordination and interaction as the criterion, and the construction of each pillar is rich and novel in connotation, which is of great reference significance for Chinese universities to face the national innovation-driven development strategy and deepen the reform of school-running system and mechanism.
