摘要
学界一般认为,以杜顺为首的华严宗道统是唐中期以后逐步构建的。但传世文献和碑刻资料显示:杜顺的华严宗道统地位受到尊奉和推崇并不是唐中期突然出现的,而是此前即已获得承认和尊崇;换言之,自唐初的智俨开始,唐代华严宗即已开启了道统的自觉构建,经过几代华严宗人的持续努力,其道统构建最终在唐宋之际取得巨大成功。华严宗此一道统自觉史迹为学界重新审视中国佛教研究中的“宗派模式”问题不无裨益。
It is generally believed that the Orthodoxy of the Huayan Sect,headed by Du Shun,was gradually constructed after the middle of the Tang Dynasty.However,according to the documents handed down from generation to generation and the inscriptions on tablets,the status of the HuayanZong of Du Shun was not suddenly respected and admired in the middle of the Tang,but had previously been recognized and respected;in other words,since the time of Zhiyan in the early Tang Dynasty,the Huayan Sect of the Tang Dynasty had begun the conscious construction of orthodoxy.Through the continuous efforts of several generations of Huayan,the construction of Orthodoxy finally achieved great success in the Tang and Song dynasties.The HuayanZong is of great benefit to re-examine the“sect model”for the academic circle in the study of Chinese Buddhism.
