The Response to the People and the Times in Du Fu’s Poetic Passion

唐代诗人杜甫诗性生活和创作的高峰时期,主要是“安史之乱”及与之前后不远的时期。杜甫仕途坎坷、身家不幸,这种经历使他对当时广大民众的苦难生活感同身受,所以他创作的诗如镜子般地反映了时代的历史,成为“诗史”,他也因对人民实际生活有直接的感受,而成为人民苦乐悲欢情绪的体验者与真实的表现者。中国古代的诗史上,如论以高超诗艺与浓重情怀抒发人民性主题者,鲜见有如杜甫这样伟大的诗人。

The peak period of Du Fu’s poetic life and creation in the Tang Dynasty could be dated back to and around the time of the An-Shi Rebellion.Du Fu’s unfortunate official career and bad fortune made him experience the same sufferings as the general public,which made him empathize with the people of his time.Therefore,Du Fu not only mirrored the true history of the time,becoming“Poet Historian”,but also experienced and expressed the people’s joys and sorrows because of his direct concern about the people’s life in his poems.In the history of ancient Chinese poetry,there are few poets who could surpass Du Fu in conveying the theme of the affinity to the people with superb poetic skills and strong feelings.
