On the Advantageous Characteristics of Ceramic Art Installation in Public Space

近年来中国当代陶艺家孜孜不倦地拓展陶艺领域,深入研究陶艺综合材料及多样化的制成工艺,陶艺不再局限于中小型摆件、陈列等,大型陶艺进入公共空间已成为陶瓷艺术发展趋势之一,其介入的范围囊括了室外幕墙、室内大型屏风等环境陶艺。公共空间的大型陶艺是融合了多材料及建筑工艺的综合陶艺,同时陶艺本身的材料属性及美学特性也支撑其在空间展示中所呈现的独特价值。同时陶艺装置进入公共场域赋予了其“空间叙述性”,观众本身被其吸引,并重新构建了场所、观者与陶艺之间三者的关系,是当代陶艺中兼备了美感和实用性的一种展现形式。本文主要从陶瓷材料优势及关系美学意义两个方面,结合一些实际范例,浅要分析陶艺装置在公共空间的优势特性。

In recent years, contemporary Chinese potters have been tirelessly expanding the field of ceramics, deeply researching into comprehensive materials and diverse manufacturing processes. Pottery is no longer limited to small and medium-sized ornaments, displays, etc.Large-scale pottery in public space has become one of the trends in ceramic art, and its interventions include outdoor curtain walls, large indoor screens and other environmental pottery. It is an integrated pottery that incorporates multiple materials and architectural processes, while the material properties and aesthetic characteristics of the pottery itself support the unique value it presents in the spatial display. At the same time,it gives them a ’spatial narrative’ that attracts the audience itself and reconstructs the relationship between the place, the viewer and the pottery,making them a form of presentation that is both aesthetic and practical in contemporary pottery. In this paper, we focus on the advantages of ceramic materials and the aesthetic signifcance of the relationship, combined with some practical examples, to analyse the advantages of ceramic installations in public space.
