On Patriotism in the New Era

爱国主义是对国家的忠诚和爱。作为忠诚,爱国主义是道德义务、政治义务与法律义务的统一。作为爱,爱国主义是情感、行动与信念的统一。爱国主义是公民身份的一种表达,它可以为对国家和同胞的特殊义务提供证明。作为公民层面的价值要求,爱国主义对于提高国家治理体系和治理能力现代化具有重要的意义,因为爱国主义精神的培育和弘扬可以增强公民对国家的认同,为国家治理造就合格的主体。在各民族国家越来越相互依赖的经济全球化时代,我们应该在坚持爱国主义的同时履行国际责任,这既有助于从国际层面增强国际社会对中国的认可,构建人类命运共同体,又有助于继续发扬无产阶级国际主义精神,为实现共产主义添砖加瓦。

Patriotism is loyalty and love for the country. As loyalty, patriotism is the unity of moral obligation, political obligation and legal obligation. As love, patriotism is the unity of emotion and action. Patriotism is an expression of citizenship, and citizenship can justify special obligations to the state and compatriots. As a value requirement of citizens, patriotism is of great significance to improve the modernization of China’s system and capacity for governance, because the cultivation and promotion of patriotism can enhance citizens’ recognition of the country and create qualified subjects for national governance. In the era of economic globalization in which all nation-states are increasingly interdependent, we should adhere to patriotism and fulfill our international responsibilities, which will not only help strengthen the recognition of China by the international community from the international level and build a community with a shared future for mankind, but also help to continue to carry forward the spirit of proletarian internationalism and contribute to the realization of communism.
