The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of non-genetic factors on calving interval of imported Angus cattle. The study was conducted on the breeding and parturition data of 1309 Angus cattle imported from Australia in a breeding farm in Kashgar,Xinjiang. The least square method was used to analyze the relationship of calving season and parity on calving interval. The results showed that both the calving season and parity had highly significant effects on the calving interval of Angus cattle.Different seasons influenced the calving interval of imported Angus cattle significantly(P<0.01),and the calving interval in winter and spring was significantly longer than that in summer(P<0.01);there was also a highly significant difference between the 1st,2nd and 3rd calving intervals(P<0.01).In conclusion, calving season and parity have a great impact on calving interval,so it is recommended that cattle scale enterprises concentrate the cows to calve in the summer by regulating and controlling the artificial insemination time systematically, and take good care of the postpartum cattle and optimize the age structure,so as to shorten the calving interval and improve the breeding efficiency and profitability.
