Educational values,an important issue in educational theory and practice,mainly answer such fundamental problems as"for whom to conduct education"and"for whom to cultivate talents."Since the 18th CPC National Congress,the CPC Central Committee’s General Secretary Xi Jinping has made a series of important expositions on these problems,and has established a systematic theory on educational values.These expositions embody the practical needs for the development of various social undertakings in the new era,reflect the people’s higher expectations for education,and respond to the new challenges facing educational development.They contain such contents as educational value’s position,orientation,pursuit,goals,standards and principles,and constitute a complete system of educational values.A systematic study and an in-depth understanding of these expositions is of great significance for an accurate grasp of the fundamental orientations to China’s educational reform in the new era,the direction of various thoughts of educational values,the practice of the major decisions of educational reform,and the promotion of the Chinese modernization of education and the building of a powerful country in education.
