Zhu Xi’s interpretation of "The mandate of heaven is called nature, and the nature is called Tao" in The Doctrine of the Mean mainly includes the following aspects: understanding order, understanding, rate, and nature. Among which, understanding and nature, the use of body and road is an important invention of Zhu Xi’s classic interpretation. However, these two principles differ from the meaning and application of the text of The Doctrine of the Mean to some extent. Although they can be properly reconciled and explained in the theoretical structure of Zhu Xi’s two-division of "qi" and "rationale", they still need to be distinguished from the original meaning of The Doctrine of the Mean.
