老舍先生的《四世同堂》创作于1944年。作品采用市民的视角,从发生在北京小胡同中的事件反映了沦陷时期的北平众生相,在具体的琐事中表达了老舍对国民性问题的思考。《四世同堂》在特定的时空下,描述了各种各样具有独特性的老派市民,从人物的描写中展示了国民性问题。

Four Generations under One Roof is a work created by Mr.Lao She in 1944.From the perspective of citizens,the novel observes what happened in Beijing during the the Japanese invaders’occupation from the events in Beijing’s small hutong,and expresses Lao She’s thoughts on the problems of national character in the small events.Under the specific time and space,it describes all kinds of old-fashioned citizens with unique characteristics,and shows the problem of national character from the description of characters.
