Shallow lakes are important components of the Earth s surface water bodies. They serve as irreplaceable functions in regional socio-economic development and conservation of biological diversities.Climate variations and intensive water consumption result in significant deviations in temporal change and spatial pattern in terms of physical and chemical processes.Taking the steady-state conversion theory research of the shallow lakes in the Yangtze River Basin as an example, this paper introduces multiple theoretical and practical problems solved in the study of steady-state conversion theory of typical shallow lakes such as Taihu Lake,Dongting Lake and Dianchi Lake.Meanwhile, the methods for setting suitable biomass of aquatic plants in shallow lakes were summarized. Finally, the remaining problems and difficulties in the study of steady-state transformation research of shallow lakes are discussed.
