Professor Chen Rui's experience in treating diabetes from the perspective of "cold"

糖尿病为内分泌科常见疾病,近年来发病率不断升高。陈锐教授师从仝小林院士和南征教授,启古通今,基于祖国医学对糖尿病的认识,针对现代糖尿病病机变化,提出“阳虚致寒”的糖尿病病机,认为大气亏虚之寒,脾胃阳虚之寒,气滞血瘀之寒,阴精不固之寒是糖尿病之“寒”的四大主要病机,建立以益气通络,祛浊扶阳为治疗大法的糖尿病治疗思路,认为治当壮真阳而祛浊阴,疗阳虚之本,化阴邪之围,除虚热之标,攻补兼施。

Diabetes,a common disease in endocrinology,has seen a rise in its occurrence in recent years.Professor Chen Rui,who has studied Chinese medicine under the guidance of Academician Tong Xiaolin and Professor Nan Zheng,proposes its pathogenesis as"yang defi ciency causing cold"on the basis of the understanding of diabetes in Chinese medicine and the changes in its pathogenesis in modern times.She argues that the key pathogenesis of the disease lies in the cold pathogen caused by the deficiency of primordial qi,the yang deficiency of the spleen and stomach,the qi stagnation and blood stasis,and the unconsolidation of yin essence.She comes up with the idea of tonifying qi and dredging collaterals,removing turbidities and reinforcing yang,maintaining that diabetes should be treated by strengthening pure yang and dispelling turbid yin so as to cure its root cause of yang deficiency,to relieve the siege of yin pathogen and to resolve its symptoms of defi ciency and heat,with reinforcing the body and eliminating the cold pathogen in combination.
