Qingdao Zhongshan Road was first built during the German occupation period.After being renamed several times,it was changed back to its original name which is used till today.In fact,today's Qingdao Zhong-shan Road includes not only Zhong-shan Road,but the area called"Shangjieli"by the natives in Qing-dao.From the German occupation period at the end of the 19th cen-tury to the time when the Qingdao municipal government moved east-ward in the 1990s,the Zhongshan Road area remained the political,economic and cultural center,as well as the most prosperous commercial center of Qingdao.
