摘要
加拿大总督文学奖获奖作品《使女的故事》是玛格丽特·阿特伍德的重要作品之一,小说中阿特伍德以犀利的视角和手法揭露基列国社会现实与伦理道德问题,启发读者思考人类的生存价值,同时,为现代人类敲响警钟。本文将在文学伦理学批评视域下解读《使女的故事》中的伦理环境与人物的伦理选择,旨在为读者提供新的欣赏角度,挖掘作品的伦理教诲意义。
“The Handmaid’s Tale” is one of Margaret Atwood’s most important works, which has won the Governor General’s Award for Fiction. In this novel, Atwood revealed the cruel social reality and moral problems in Gilead through her sharp writing style. By describing the life and problems in Gilead, Atwood enlightened the readers to think about our won social problems and the future. This paper will apply ethical literary criticism to Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale”, and do analysis on its ethical environment and the ethical choices of the characters. Through the analysis, this writer aims at providing a new reading perspective for readers and revealing the significance of the ethical instruction in “The Handmaid’s Tale”.
