识解理论视域下《红楼梦》中疑问词的英译研究

A Study on the English Translation of Interrogative Words in A Dream of Red Mansions from the Perspective of Construal Theory

翻译从本质上来说就是一种语言与认知互动的双语活动。不同译者受“识解”的影响,根据自身的知识和经验从不同的角度或维度形成意义建构或概念化。《红楼梦》中疑问词的语义纷繁交融,在询问项目上存在交叉,非疑问义的表征形式丰富且复杂。两个经典英译本都有效地理解了原文中的疑问词,但是由于两位译者的动机和创造性不一样,对疑问词的识解,在详略度、聚焦选择、选择突显和压制的方式等方面存在差异,因而对疑问词进行了多样的翻译。本文基于认知语言学中的识解理论对疑问词的翻译进行较为深入的阐释,更清晰地呈现出两位译者的认知翻译过程。

Translation is essentially a kind of bilingual activity in which language and cognition interact.Under the influence of “cognitive interpretation”,different translators form meaning construction or conceptualization from different angles or dimensions according to their own knowledge and experience.The semantic meanings of interrogative words in A Dream of Red Mansions are complex and blended,and there are intersections in inquiry items.The representations of non-interrogative meanings are rich and complex.The two classic English versions have effectively understood the interrogative words in the original text.However,due to the different motives and creativity of the two translators,there are differences in the understanding of interrogative words in level of specificity,focus selection,selection of highlighting and suppression methods,so they have carried out various translations of interrogative words.Based on construal theory,this paper makes a more in-depth interpretation of the translation of interrogative words,and more clearly presents the cognitive translation process of the two translators.
