摘要
本文通过自建小型中外航运报告可比平行语料库,首先比较《中国航运发展报告》英译本和《全球海运发展述评报告》英文本立场标记语的使用特点,然后从翻译规范理论视角分析中国航运报告中立场标记语的英译问题。研究发现,《中国航运发展报告》英译本倾向使用和原文语义、句法结构相同的立场表达,其立场标记语频次明显低于《全球海运发展述评报告》英文本。前者在立场和态度的表达上比较严谨、客观,体现了权威性,而后者立场标记语较为丰富,体现了目标性、责任感和积极评价。基于目标语中立场标记语的使用“规范”,我们建议英译航运报告时:(1)在认知立场和态度立场的表达上,根据上下文需要,适当增加表示积极意义的立场标记语;(2)适当增加可能型情态立场标记语,充分实现译文的交际功能。
This paper presents a corpus-based comparative study of stance markers used in the Report of China’s Shipping Development(RCSD)and the Review of Maritime Transport(ROMT).The results show that the semantic and grammatical expressions of stance markers in the former were translated verbatim into English,and their overall frequency is significantly lower than that of the latter.On the whole,the RCSD is more cautious,objective when expressing stance,while the ROMT tends to convey the responsible and positive attitude towards the development with rich stance markers.In correspondence with the“norm”of stance markers in the target language,we would like to make two suggestions:1)appropriately add stance markers showing positive attitudes according to the context;2)use more modality stance markers of possibility to fulfill the interpersonal function when translating Chinese shipping reports into English.
