Economic Approach Towards Linguistic Studies:A Game-Theoretic Account of Lexical Blocking

词汇阻遏是词汇语用界面的重要研究对象,现有语用分析存在解释力不足、研究方法未能体现阻遏相对性的问题。对此,本研究认为词汇阻遏系言语使用的经济性使然,交际者在词语的信息量与交际成本间权衡,选择特定交际策略以实现效用最大化,故可引入博弈理论对该过程加以分析。研究旨在构建交际博弈模型,阐明影响词汇阻遏的关键变量,预测具体语境中言者的词语选择与听者的意义理解行为,并透过对词汇阻遏博弈机制的探究,展现语言学的经济视角研究的优势与广阔前景。

Though lexical blocking has long been a central topic in lexical pragmatics,few pragmatic accounts can cover the full spectrum of blocking phenomenon and explain its relativity in actual use.To address this problem,this paper argues that the nature of lexical blocking is the economy principle in language use,where interlocutors make a trade-off between informativity and speech cost to maximize their utilities.Thus,it is feasible to introduce the game theory to analyze current issues.This paper develops a formal model of communication that contains key factors of lexical blocking,and therefore can be used to predict speaker and listener behavior.Through constructing a comprehensive framework of lexical blocking,it aims at demonstrating the strength of economic approach towards linguistic studies.
