《楚门的世界》上映于1998年,是彼得·威尔的扛鼎之作。影片中的楚门就像柏拉图“洞穴”中的囚徒,要么是虚幻的影像,要么是片面的真实;启蒙后的楚门重拾勇气,超越虚假的现实,将自己的理性部分转向理念世界,最终进入到真实自我的领域。通过借用柏拉图的“洞穴理论”,分析楚门求索真理的历程,揭示当代人的生存困境。在此基础上启示当代人应辩证看待现实生活、以求真的态度探索未知世界,才有助于走出虚假文化的牢笼、从蒙昧走向理性、从可感世界走向可知世界。

The Truman Show,released in 1998,is Peter Weir's masterpiece.Truman in the film is like a prisoner in Plato's"cave".At first,he realized that it was either an illusory image or a one-sided truth.After the enlightenment,Truman regained his courage,transcended the false reality,turned his rational part to the world of ideas,and finally entered the field of true self.By applying Plato's"cave theory",this paper analyzes Truman's quest for truth and reveals the survival dilemma of modern people.On this basis,it is revealed that contemporary people should view real life dialectically and explore the unknown world with the attitude of seeking truth.Only in this way can we get out of the cage of false culture,move from ignorance to rationality,and move from sensible world to knowable world.
