Although the importance of the theory of "Seven Harms and Eight Benefits" has been affirmed by all generations of doctors, there has been controversy on its original meaning. The author believes that the correct understanding and application of "Seven Harms and Eight Benefits" should be based on the Inner Canon of Huangdi, exploring its origin, original meaning and context, and combining with the main academic ideas and the concept of the times in the Inner Canon of Huangdi. "Seven Harms and Eight Benefits" in Tian Xia Zhi Dao Tan has the meaning of Fangzhongshu(Sex science in ancient China), but if it is interpreted under the theoretical system and philosophical thought of Inner Canon of Huangdi, it is likely that the author talks about the danger of Yin and Yang decline from the perspective of Yin and Yang, and the purpose is to warn people to pay attention to prevention before disease and prevention of change after disease, follow the way of heaven and harmonize Yin and Yang. Only when the heaven and the earth are in harmony, the Yin is peaceful and the Yang is secret, can the body and mind enjoy the road of heaven and age without disease.
