Promoting high-quality water development in the new stage needs support of talents.Research institutions form an important part of scientific research and technical innovation and fostering of high-level talents.Postgraduate education shall be the main channel for obtaining innovative talents and research institutions have many advantages in this regard.This paper summarizes and reviews the development process of postgraduate education of water-related research institutions,analyzes the advantages and opportunities from the perspective of the characteristics of the times and development orientation,and give a summary and suggestion accordingly.
