The pharmacological effects of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)are diverse due to the different characteristics, tastes and meridians, processing methods and incompatibility.TCM has been widely used in livestock and poultry production under the background of comprehensive“anti-resistance”in feed.Immune enhancers made from traditional Chinese medicine have the advantages of safety, low residue, low toxicity, and are unlikely to induce drug resistance, which play an important role in improving animal immunity and production performance and improving disease hazards. The author reviewed the characteristic of Chinese medicine immune enhancers, such as wide sources, diverse functions, low side effects and no drug resistance, their function in promoting the development of immune organs and improving the humoral and cellular immunity of livestock and poultry, and their application in livestock and poultry production,in order to provide theoretical reference for the further development of Chinese medicine immune enhancer with good effect, easy usage, low cost and small side effects.
