Valerio Olgiati's architecture is fascinating.At first sight,this fascination arises from the contradictions one faces when encountering the architecture.But along with the visible contradictions,Olgiati's architecture also has this invisible,almost inexpesible efct on people-the archival familiarity and disquieting confusion-it could be the deeper source where the fascination comes from.This essay strives to understand this inexpressible aspect of Valerio OIgiati's architecture starting with the visible contradictions,with a case study of the Bardill Studio.And it proceeds to theorize his architectural approach with the help of the French philosopher,Gilles Deleuze's notion of the"Diagram",exemplied by the works of the lrish painter,Francis Bacon.
