The Australian novel Coonardoo tells the story of the emotional entanglement between white ranchers and indigenous women along with the rise and fall of a ranch. This article focuses on the dimensions of land, female and language to illustrate the colonial relationship between whites and natives. It points out that under colonial rule, the natives were deprived of their land and lost the foundation for survival, indigenous women became a utilized tool, and their language became absent in Australian literature. As a white writer,Pritchard pays enough literary attention to the indigenous people and their language and culture. In this novel, she shows both deep sympathy for the indigenous people and contempt for them, reflecting a strong sense of justice and awareness of social responsibility, and certain limitation as well.
