Chinese Culture and the Community with the Shared Future for Mankind

人类命运共同是人类社会发展的客观规律和必然宿命。自觉、理性、积极地构建人类命运共同体,是人类把握自身命运的必由之路。构建人类命运共同体,首先要有整个人类社会都能认知、接受、奉行和维护的思想观念基础,这就是“人类共同价值”。习近平总书记将其概括为:和平、发展、公平、正义、民主、自由,它实际上是整个人类,包括所有民族和国家都能认知和接受的“人类文明最大公约数”。人类社会的历史一次次证明,一个和平持久的人类共同体,只能通过各个民族和国家之间的沟通、共识和合作才能实现,仅仅依靠力量形成的共同体不可能长久持续。这就意味着,不同文化,尤其是东西方文化,要相互尊重、彼此融合,从而实现多元共生。具有四千多年文明史的中国文化,恰恰具有这方面的根性与基因,而且孕育了可以为整个人类接受的人类共同价值观念。未来人类社会发展进程中,如果能够实现东西方文化价值合一,人类命运共同体的构建就有了最基本的思想和观念基础,这将是人类的共同福祉,它必然带来人类文明的一大跃进。

As it is a destiny for and an objective law of the development of human society,the community with shared future for mankind shall be actively built through conscious effort,which is the only rational road to be taken,if mankind is to be in control of its own destiny.However,to build a community with the shared future there shall exist in the first place a foundation of"shared values,"which are comprehensible,acceptable to and shall be held and observed by mankind.Such values are generalized in China as peace,development,fairness,justice,democracy,freedom and human rights.These values are so to speak"the human civilization’s greatest common divisors"of all nations and cultures.As history has repeatedly shown that a peaceful human community cannot be perpetuated through force,but rather through understanding,communication,cooperation among nations and states,different cultures,therefore,especially the occidental and the oriental ones,in order to co-exist,need to respect and blend with each other.Fortunately,China,boasting a history of more than 4000 years of civilization,has cultivated in its culture genes such values that stress harmony and coexistence,which are acceptable to all mankind.Such values can,in the future human progress,help integrate the oriental and occidental cultures,and can form the ideological foundation for the building of a community with shared future for mankind.They will enhance the well-being of mankind and will bring human civilization a great leap forward.
