Health psychological control sources can predict the health outcomes of chronic diseases such as diabetes. By assessing the tendency of health psychological control sources in diabetic patients, it is of great clinical significance to effectively improve patients’ psychological status and promote healthy behaviors. This paper introduces the concept of health psychological control sources and assessment tools that can be applied to diabetic patients, and reviews the current status of research on health psychological control sources in type 2 diabetic patients at home and abroad, aiming to provide reference for timely and accurate assessment of health psychological control source tendencies in type 2 diabetic patients, promotion of disease self-management and construction of related intervention programs.
