赵九章作为“两弹一星”战略科学家、“651”(卫星)设计院院长,他最突出的贡献就是积极向周总理建言,促成了我国卫星事业的启动与研制。在他辉煌的科技报国生涯里,展现出了卓越的集智攻关能力与协同精神,敢为天下先的创新精神,以及奖掖后学的科学育人等精神。虽然出身于气象科学,但是他急国家之所需,在海洋研究、空间科学、卫星研制等好几个相关领域都做出了重大贡献,同时他还是一位出色的科学教育家。总之,他为当代中国科学家精神的铸造贡献了自己不可或缺的精神元素,对于当下培养复合型科技人才,对于推动学科交叉融合创新,都起到了有益的借鉴作用。

As a strategic scientist of the “Two Bombs And One Satellite”, the president of China’s “651”, Satellite Design Institute, Zhao Jiuzhang’s most outstanding contribution was to suggest to Premier Zhou actively, which promoted the launch and development of Chinese first satellite. In his brilliant career of scientific and technological study, he had shown outstanding ability of gathering wisdom to tackle key problems and the spirit of collaboration, the spirit of innovation, and the spirit of science education and so on. Although his background was in meteorological science, he had made significant contributions to several related fields, such as ocean research, space science and satellite development. At the same time, he was an outstanding science educator. In short, he had contributed his own indispensable spiritual elements to the casting of the spirit of contemporary Chinese scientists, and played a beneficial reference role for the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents and the promotion of cross integration innovation.
