摘要 Happy New Year!As we enter a New Year with a promising future ahead of us,it’s nice to reflect upon some of the bright spots from 2020 that stand out in sharp contrast to the darkness caused by the global pandemic. One of these bright spots was a ceremony held in Beijing on November 18 to honor Prof.Au-Chin Tang(18 November 1915–15 July 2008),a renowned and respected chemist, great educator, and former President of the Chinese Chemical Society(CCS).The ceremony, held on Prof.Tang’s birthday, was a celebration to recognize the naming of Minor Planet No.218914(Figure 1)after Prof.Tang, whose contributions to chemistry in China have transcended generations and continue to have lasting impact.Minor Planet No.218914 is an everlasting memorial to Prof.Tang’s contributions to chemistry in China that his family and fellow chemists can appreciate for eternity.More details about Prof.Tang’s career and contributions can be found at the end of this Editorial.
