The Threefold Logical Implications of Xi Jinping’s Important Statements about“Going One’s Own Way”

独立自主,走自己的路,是党的全部理论和实践的立足点,更是党百年奋斗得出的历史结论。习近平总书记关于立足于中国的主体性、走自己的路的相关论述内容丰富、涵义深刻,其中蕴含着三重逻辑:走自己的路,必须遵循思想指引逻辑,就是要坚持“两个结合”,即坚持把马克思主义基本原理同中国具体实际相结合、同中华优秀传统文化相结合,走适合自身特点的路;必须遵循主体选择逻辑,就是要坚持独立自主,坚持把国家和民族发展放在自己力量的基点上,体现中国共产党和中国人民的“意志合力”,走中国人民自己选择的路;必须遵循创新发展逻辑,就是要坚持开拓创新,既不走封闭僵化的老路,也不走改旗易帜的邪路,要坚持和发展中国特色社会主义这条新路、正路,走前人没有走过的路。

Being independent and going one’s own way is the standpoint of all theories and practices of the Communist Party of China,and it is also the historical conclusion of Party’s century-long struggle.Xi Jinping’s important statements on taking one’s own path based on China’s subjectivity is rich in content and profound in meaning,which contains three layers of logic:firstly,to tread a path of our own means we must follow the logic of thought guidance.That is,we must adhere to the“combination of two things”—combine the basic principles of Marxism with China’s actual conditions and the great tradition of Chinese culture,to take a path suited to our own characteristics.Secondly,we must follow the logic of autonomous selection of the people.That is,we have committed to the independence and autonomy of the nation,and put the development of the nation as a whole high on the agenda,enabling the Party and the Chinese people to form a general will that makes possible a path chosen by the Chinese people themselves.Thirdly,we must follow the logic of innovative development,that is,we must pursue pioneering and innovative ways of development.We must neither retrace our steps to the rigidity and isolation of the past,nor take a wrong turn by changing our nature and abandoning our system.We must adhere to and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics,a new and right path that has never been trodden before.
