On November 9, 1922, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences voted to award Einstein the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics and invited him to the Nobel Prize award ceremony held in Stockholm on 10 December of the same year. Since Einstein was traveling in Japan, he was unable to come, and his Nobel lecture was also postponed until July 1923 given in Gothenburg. This article includes various stories that took place around this famous historical event, as well as Einstein’s manuscripts and letters collected by the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm.
