评价系统视角下软硬学科中词块的使用特征研究

A Study on the Disciplinary Features of Lexical Chunks in Soft Science and Hard Science from the Perspective of Appraisal System

本文基于评价系统对BAWE软硬学科间词块的使用特征进行探究。研究中软学科以社会学为代表,硬学科以物理和化学为代表。结果显示,在评价系统的三个子系统中(态度、介入和级差),软硬学科的共性为均使用介入性词块与读者建立同盟关系,差异为软学科趋于使用扩展性词块扩大对话空间,而硬学科较多使用收缩性介入来限制对话空间。本文揭示了不同学科在写作风格上的差异,可帮助英语学习者规范学术语言,提高学术英语写作水平。

This study seeks to explore with the appraisal system the characteristics of lexical chunks between soft science and hard science in BAWE sub-corpora, with sociology representing soft science, physics and chemistry hard science.According to the findings, among the three sub-categories of appraisal system(Attitude, Engagement and Graduation), soft science and hard science both tend to use the system of engagement to establish alignment with readers. In contrast to soft science, hard science prefers to contract the dialogue space. This study helps identify the differences in writing styles across subjects, which can assist English learners in standardizing their language and improving their academic English writing.
