Objective To explore the current situation of knowledge and related factors regarding physical examination of acquisition autogenous arteriovenous fistula(AVF) among hemodialysis nurses, to provide evidence for targeted training programs. Methods The questionnaire survey was conducted among 258 hemodialysis nurses from 35 hospitals of different levels in the south Hebei Province, using convenient sampling and self-designed knowledge questionnaire regarding AVF physical examination. SPSS 23.0 software was used for statistical analysis of baseline data and knowledge score and correct rate for AVF physical examination among hemodialysis nurses. Results The effective rate were 34.9% for mastering knowledge regarding AVF physical examination among hemodialysis nurses. Working hours, hospital level and professional training were the main factors influencing the knowledge level regarding AVF physical examination(P< 0.001). Hemodialysis nurses believed that the main reasons were lack of systematic training, few relevant learning materials and personal neglect. Conclusion strength training of knowledge regarding AVF physical examination should be conducted among hemodialysis nurses. Based on different factors and knowledge mastery, effective training methods can improve their knowledge level of physical examination.
