The Impact of Transportation Infrastructure on the Inter-Regional Income Gap Among Rural Residents

摘要 交通基础设施是助力我国全面建成小康社会的重要保障,尤其在推动我国农村经济均衡发展方面具有重要作用。为分析交通基础设施对农村居民地区间收入不平等的影响,选取我国23个省份作为研究区域,利用2010—2019年的社会经济数据,以农村居民地区间收入差距为被解释变量,公路网密度和铁路网密度为解释变量,建立固定效应模型。研究发现:公路发展会扩大地区间收入差距,铁路发展会缩小地区间收入差距;地理区位因素会对结果产生异质性影响,东部地区的铁路发展对农村居民地区间收入差距的影响并不显著。 Transportation infrastructure is an important guarantee for supporting our country’s economic development in the years 2000—2018 and is particularly important in promoting the balanced development of our country’s rural economy.To analyze the impact of transportation infrastructure on income inequality among rural residents,we selected 23 provinces of China as study regions,and used the socioeconomic data for 2010—2019,using rural resident’s income gap as an explanatory variable,highway network density,and railway network density as the explanatory variable,to establish fixed-effect model.The study found that highway development would widen the income gap between regions;railway development would narrow the income gap between regions;geographical location would have heterogeneous effects on outcomes;and the impact of railway development in the eastern region on the rural resident income gap was not significant.
