文章以比较1966年出版的两本著作——阿尔多·罗西的《城市建筑学》和罗伯特·文丘里的《建筑的复杂性与矛盾性》为开端,引出建筑理论家在构建自身理论体系的过程中会受到自身所处的文化背景的影响这一话题。随后文章以《建筑的复杂性与矛盾性》为例,通过揭示该著作中出现的各学科思想理论的出处及其与该著作核心理论之间错综复杂的关系,得出以下两点结论:其一,《建筑的复杂性与矛盾性》一书中的理论建构主要受四个方面的美国本土文化影响;其二,经典建筑理论的普适性问题需要在充分理解自我与他者文化背景差异的基础之上以审慎的态度来对待。

This paper starts with comparing two books published in 1966--Aldo Rossi’s The Architecture of the City and Robert Venturi’s Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture,and brings out the topic that architectural theorists are influenced by the regional culture when they construct their own theoretical system.Then the paper takes Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture as an example,by revealing the origin of the ideological theories of various disciplines and their intricate relationships with the core theories of the book,the following two conclusions are drawn:Firstly,the theoretical construction in Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture is mainly influenced by four aspects of native American culture.Secondly,the universality of classical architectural theory needs to be treated prudently on the basis of a full understanding of the cultural background differences between self and others.
