通过古籍文献调研、中药现代研究进展及其研究成果的梳理,结合中医临床及中药学等学科领域内的专家学者的认识及应用经验,经讨论认为五味子:功效主要为收敛固涩,益气生津,补肾宁心。症靶为咳嗽、遗精。标靶为高转氨酶。现代药理发现五味子及其有效成分具有抗炎、镇静、催眠、提高心肌活性、保肝、降转氨酶、减轻肾损伤等作用。本品无毒,但是外有表邪,内有实热,咳嗽初起,麻疹初起患者不宜应用。临床使用剂量为2~30 g,内服时当根据不同疾病,或同一疾病的不同阶段进行辨证使用,并积极探索五味子用量与症靶、标靶的量效关系构建。
