Observation and Reflections on the World Heritage Gassho-Style Houses in Shirakawa-go

合掌造民居是日本极具地域特色的一类传统民居形式。本文以世界遗产白川乡合掌造民居的实地走访调研为基础,通过对合掌造民居的空间布局、形态风貌、结构技术等表象特征的详实梳理,探讨合掌造民居生成背后的影响因素和影响机制,并进一步思考合掌造民居的保护发展所给予我们的一些积极启示。

The Gassho-style house is a type of traditional folk house with regional characteristics in Japan. This paper is based on the field investigations of the World Heritage Gassho-style houses in Shirakawa-go. Through a detailed analysis of the features such as spatial layout, morphologic appearance and structural techniques of Gassho-style houses, it discusses the influential factors and mechanisms behind the generation of Gassho-style houses, and further considers some of the positive enlightenments that the conservation and development of Gassho-style houses can bring to us.
